Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Polyangium spumosum was originally described by Krzemieniewska and Krzemieniewski 1927. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Brockman.
