The suborder Nannocystineae was originally proposed by Reichenbach 2005. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 115 in 2007. Waite et al. elevated this suborder to the rank of order to form the name (Reichenbach 2007) Waite et al. 2020 in 2020.
