Nomenclatural History

The subspecies Campylobacter pylori pylori was originally described and validly published by Fox et al. 1988. Fox et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Campylobacter pylori corrig. (Fox et al. 1988) Marshall et al. 1985 emend. Fox et al. 1989
in 1989.
This subspecies became redundant when Fox et al. 1989 promoted ssp. mustalae (the only sibling of this taxon at the rank of subspecies) to a species.
