The species Helicobacter mustelae was originally described and validly published by Goodwin et al. 1989. Goodwin et al. formed this name in 1989 by placing the species (Fox et al. 1988) Fox et al. 1989 into the genus Goodwin et al. 1989 emend. Vandamme et al. 1991.
