The species Helicobacter pullorum was originally described by Stanley et al. 1994. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 53 in 1995. In 2019, Waite et al. established Helicobacter pullorum as the basonym of
Pseudohelicobacter pullorum (Stanley et al. 1995) Waite et al. 2019
