The species Wolinella succinogenes was originally described and validly published by Tanner et al. 1981. Tanner et al. formed this name in 1981 by placing the species
Vibrio succinogenes Wolin et al. 1961 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Wolinella Tanner et al. 1981.
