The species Clostridium celerecrescens was originally described and validly published by Palop et al. 1989. Chamkha et al. published an emended description of this species in 2001. In 2013, Yutin and Galperin established Clostridium celerecrescens as the basonym of
Lachnoclostridium celerecrescens (Palop et al. 1989) Yutin and Galperin 2013
. In 2020, Haas and Blanchard established Clostridium celerecrescens as the basonym of
Lacrimispora celerecrescens (Palop et al. 1989) Haas and Blanchard 2020
