The species Clostridium hastiforme was originally described by MacLennan 1939. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Bae et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Tissierella praeacuta (Tissier 1908) Collins and Shah 1986 emend. Alauzet et al. 2014
in 2004.
