Nomenclatural History

The species Clostridium irregulare was originally described by Prévot 1938. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Cato et al. corrected this name from Clostridium irregularis (sic) to Clostridium irregulare . In 2013, Yutin and Galperin established Clostridium irregulare as the basonym of
Peptoclostridium irregulare (Choukévitch 1911) Yutin and Galperin 2013
. In 2014, Gerritsen et al. established Clostridium irregulare as the basonym of
Asaccharospora irregularis (Choukévitch 1911) Gerritsen et al. 2014
.
