The species Clostridium thermohydrosulfuricum was originally described by Klaushofer and Parkkinen 1965. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1993, Lee et al. established as the basonym of (Klaushofer and Parkkinen 1965) Lee et al. 1993 .
