The species Clostridium xylanovorans was originally described by Mechichi et al. 1999. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 72 in 2000. In 2013, Yutin and Galperin established as the basonym of (Mechichi et al. 2000) Yutin and Galperin 2013 . In 2016, Ueki et al. established as the basonym of (Mechichi et al. 2000) Ueki et al. 2016 .
