The species Dorea formicigenerans was originally described and validly published by Taras et al. 2002. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Taras et al. formed this name in 2002 by placing the species
Eubacterium formicigenerans Holdeman and Moore 1974 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Dorea Taras et al. 2002.
