Nomenclatural History
The genus Peptostreptococcus was originally proposed by Kluyver and van Niel 1936. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Ezaki et al. published an emended description of this genus in 1983. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Ezaki et al. in 2001.
