The species Gallicola barnesae was originally described and validly published by Ezaki et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Ezaki et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species
Peptostreptococcus barnesae Schiefer-Ullrich and Andreesen 1986
into the genus Gallicola Ezaki et al. 2001.
