Nomenclatural History
The genus Desulfosporosinus was originally proposed and validly published by Stackebrandt et al. 1997. Robertson et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2001. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Stackebrandt et al. in 2003 and Vatsurina et al. in 2008.
