Nomenclatural History	The species Desulfosporosinus orientis was originally described and validly published by Stackebrandt et al. 1997. Stackebrandt et al. formed this name in 1997 by placing the species Desulfotomaculum orientis Campbell and Postgate 1965 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Desulfosporosinus Stackebrandt et al. 1997 emend. Vatsurina et al. 2008.
