The species Heliobacterium undosum was originally described by Bryantseva et al. 2000. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 78 in 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. In 2021, Kyndt et al. established as the basonym of (Bryantseva et al. 2001) Kyndt et al. 2021 .
