Nomenclatural History

The genus Dialister was originally proposed by Bergey et al. 1923. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1994 the name was revived and validly published by Moore and Moore. Downes et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2003. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Jumas-Bilak et al. in 2005 and Morotomi et al. in 2008.
