Nomenclatural History
The genus Selenomonas was originally proposed by von Prowazek 1913. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 21 in 1958. Bryant published an emended description of this genus in 1974.
