The species Selenomonas acidaminovorans was originally described by Guangsheng et al. 1992. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 61 in 1997. In 1999, Baena et al. established Selenomonas acidaminovorans as the basonym of
Thermanaerovibrio acidaminovorans (Guangsheng et al. 1997) Baena et al. 1999 emend. Palaniappan et al. 2013
