The species Carboxydibrachium pacificum was originally described and validly published by Sokolova et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. List Editor corrected this name from (sic) to . In 2004, Fardeau et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Sokolova et al. 2001) Fardeau et al. 2004 .
