Nomenclatural History
The species Thermoanaerobacter mathranii was originally described by Larsen et al. 1997. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 64 in 1998. Carlier et al. published an emended description of this species in 2006. In 2006, Carlier et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Larsen et al. 1998) Carlier et al. 2007 .
