The species Mycoplasma ovis was originally described and validly published by Neimark et al. 2004. Neimark et al. formed this name in 2004 by placing the species Neitz et al. 1934 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Nowak 1929 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Gupta et al. 2018.
