Nomenclatural History
The species Mycoplasma suis was originally described and validly published by Neimark et al. 2002. List Editor corrected this name from (sic) to . Neimark et al. formed this name in 2002 by placing the species Splitter 1950 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Nowak 1929 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Gupta et al. 2018.

The proposal of Neimark et al. to reclassify Eperythrozoon suis as 'Candidatus' is not acceptable; it would lose standing in nomenclature (List Editor, 2001).
