Mycoplasma wenyonii (Adler and Ellenbogen 1934) Neimark et al. 2002
Nomenclatural History
The species Mycoplasma wenyonii was originally described and validly published by Neimark et al. 2002. Neimark et al. formed this name in 2002 by placing the species Adler and Ellenbogen 1934 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Nowak 1929 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Gupta et al. 2018.

The proposal of Neimark et al. 2001 to reclassify Eperythrozoon wenyonii Adler and Ellenbogen 1934 (Approved Lists 1980) as a 'Candidatus' name was not acceptable, as it would cause a Validly Published name to lose standing in nomenclature (List Editor, 2001). Neimark et al. 2002 subsequently revised the proposal as a new combination.
