Nomenclatural History
|
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 15 in 1984. The species Haemobartonella canis was originally described by Kikuth 1928. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1984 the name was revived by Kreier and Ristic. In 2002, Messick et al. established Haemobartonella canis as the basonym of
Mycoplasma haemocanis Messick et al. 2002
