The species Entomoplasma lucivorax was originally described and validly published by Tully et al. 1993. Tully et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Williamson et al. 1990 into the genus Tully et al. 1993 emend. Gupta et al. 2019. In 2019, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Williamson et al. 1990) Gupta et al. 2019 .
