The species Mesoplasma seiffertii was originally described and validly published by Tully et al. 1993. Tully et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Bonnet et al. 1991 into the genus Tully et al. 1993 emend. Gupta et al. 2019. In 2019, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Bonnet et al. 1991) Gupta et al. 2019 . In 2019, Gasparich and Kuo established as the basonym of (Bonnet et al. 1991) Gasparich and Kuo 2019 .
