Nomenclatural History
The species Bacillus aeolius was originally described by Gugliandolo et al. 2003. This name was validly published by List Editor 2003. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 98 in 2020.

Pukall et al. 2008 requested that Bacillus aeolius be placed on the list of rejected names. This request was denied by the Judicial Commission in Opinion 98. Instead, it was ruled that in the absence of authentic type material, the name Bacillus aeolius is not validly published.
