The species Bacillus edaphicus was originally described by Shelobolina et al. 1997. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 66 in 1998. In 2010, Hu et al. established as the basonym of (Shelobolina et al. 1998) Hu et al. 2010 .
