Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 28 in 1989. The species Bacillus fusiformis was originally described by Meyer and Gottheil 1901. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1988 the name was revived by Priest et al.. In 2007, Ahmed et al. established as the basonym of (Priest et al. 1989) Ahmed et al. 2007 .
