The subspecies Bacillus globisporus marinus was originally described by Rüger and Richter 1979. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Rüger elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Bacillus marinus (Rüger and Richter 1979) Rüger 1983 emend. Rüger et al. 2000
in 1983.
