Nomenclatural History
|
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 28 in 1989. The species Bacillus kaustophilus was originally described by Prickett 1928. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1988 the name was revived by Priest et al.. In 2001, Nazina et al. established Bacillus kaustophilus as the basonym of
Geobacillus kaustophilus (Priest et al. 1989) Nazina et al. 2001
