The species Bacillus larvae was originally described by White 1906. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1993, Ash et al. established Bacillus larvae as the basonym of
Paenibacillus larvae (White 1906) Ash et al. 1994 emend. Genersch et al. 2006
.
