Nomenclatural History
The species Bacillus marinus was originally described and validly published by Rüger 1983. Rüger et al. published an emended description of this species in 2000. Rüger elevated the subspecies Rüger and Richter 1979 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of species to form this name in 1983. In 2001, Yoon et al. established as the basonym of (Rüger and Richter 1979) Yoon et al. 2001 .
