Nomenclatural History
The species Bacillus megaterium was originally described by de Bary 1884. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 1 in 1951. Rao et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. Rao et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Shivaji et al. 2009 in 2019. In 2020, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (de Bary 1884) Gupta et al. 2020 .
