The species Bacillus sporothermodurans was originally described and validly published by Pettersson et al. 1996. Heyndrickx et al. published an emended description of this species in 2012. In 2020, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Pettersson et al. 1996) Gupta et al. 2020 .
