The species Bacillus thermosphaericus was originally described by Andersson et al. 1995. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 56 in 1996. In 2001, Fortina et al. established as the basonym of (Andersson et al. 1996) Fortina et al. 2001 .
