The species Bacillus tusciae was originally described by Bonjour and Aragno 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. In 2011, Klenk et al. established Bacillus tusciae as the basonym of
Kyrpidia tusciae (Bonjour and Aragno 1985) Klenk et al. 2012
