The species Amphibacillus fermentum was originally described by Zhilina et al. 2001. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 85 in 2002. In 2016, Sultanpuram et al. established as the basonym of (Zhilina et al. 2002) Sultanpuram et al. 2016 .
