Nomenclatural History	The species Geobacillus stearothermophilus was originally described and validly published by Nazina et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Coorevits et al. published an emended description of this species in 2012. Nazina et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species Bacillus stearothermophilus Donk 1920 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Geobacillus Nazina et al. 2001 emend. Aliyu et al. 2018.
