The genus Marinibacillus was originally proposed and validly published by Yoon et al. 2001. Yoon et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2004. Yoon et al. transferred the members of this genus into
Jeotgalibacillus Yoon et al. 2001 emend. Yaakop et al. 2015
in 2010.
