Nomenclatural History
The genus Oceanobacillus was originally proposed by Lu et al. 2001. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 85 in 2002. Yumoto et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2005. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Lee et al. in 2006, Hirota et al. in 2013 and Hirota et al. in 2013.
