Nomenclatural History
The species Virgibacillus pantothenticus was originally described and validly published by Heyndrickx et al. 1998. Heyndrickx et al. published an emended description of this species in 1999. Heyndrickx et al. formed this name in 1998 by placing the species Proom and Knight 1950 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Heyndrickx et al. 1998 emend. Heyrman et al. 2003.
