Nomenclatural History
|
The species Deinococcus erythromyxa was originally described by Chester 1901. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1981 the name was revived and validly published by Brooks and Murray. In 1997, Rainey et al. established Deinococcus erythromyxa as the basonym of
Kocuria erythromyxa (Brooks and Murray 1981) Rainey et al. 1997
