Nomenclatural History
|
The family Caryophanaceae was originally proposed by Peshkoff 1939. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Gupta and Patel published an emended description of this family in 2019. This name replaces the name
Incertae sedis 19 Krishnamurthi et al. 2009
. Gupta and Patel established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Planococcaceae Krasil'nikov 1949 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2019. Gupta and Patel transferred the members of
Planococcaceae Krasil'nikov 1949 (Approved Lists 1980)
into this family in 2019.
Ludwig et al. 2009 unifies this order with Planococcaceae. However, Caryophanaceae has priority.
