Nomenclatural History

This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 10 in 1983. The species Listeria innocua was originally described by Seeliger and Schoofs 1979. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1981 the name was revived by Seeliger.
