Nomenclatural History
The genus Paenibacillus was originally proposed by Ash et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 51 in 1994. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 77 in 2005. Shida et al. published an emended description of this genus in 1997. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Behrendt et al. in 2010 and Huang et al. in 2017.
