Nomenclatural History
The species Paenibacillus polymyxa was originally described by Ash et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 51 in 1994. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 77 in 2005. Kwak et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Ash et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species (Prażmowski 1880) Macé 1889 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Ash et al. 1994 emend. Huang et al. 2017. Kwak et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Aguilera et al. 2001 in 2020.
