Nomenclatural History
The species Paenibacillus azotofixans was originally described by Ash et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 51 in 1994. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 73 in 2003. Ash et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Seldin et al. 1984 into the genus Ash et al. 1994 emend. Huang et al. 2017. Judicial Commission of the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes established as a later homotypic synonym of corrig. (Smith and Cato 1974) Collins et al. 1994 emend. Guella et al. 2019 in 2003.
